The national curriculum for mathematics aims to ensure that all pupils become fluent in mathematics and develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately. Using manipulatives is an integral part of good Maths teaching, join us in our highly informative session where we explore the following:
• What is the CPA approach.
• How can using manipulatives deepen children’s mathematical understanding.
• How using manipulatives creates reasoning opportunities.
• Explore what intelligent practice is and the difference between perceptual variation and systematic variation.
Throughout the session you will be given:
• The tools needed to provide a good math lessons that deepens children’s understanding.
• Knowledge and support to help you understand the benefits of the CPA approach fromevidence-based research.
• Strategies to Implement straight into your classroom
• Information to make evidence informed decisions so pupils develop a conceptual understanding of the maths content being explored.
